Butterfly is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released on September 10, 1997, by Columbia Records. The album contains both hip-hop and urban adult contemporary sounds, as well as some softer and more contemporary melodies.
Using the album's track listing, the negative spacing was carefully shaped into an impression of a butterfly. The information on both the front and back of the packaging is mirrored, allowing the user to read the information regardless of orientation.
